The Market Shops Announces Newest Tenant, Fit2Run

The Market Shops is pleased to announce their newest merchant, Fit2Run, officially opened its doors on Thursday, June 29.

Fit2Run is a family-owned and locally operated specialty running retailer that first opened in Sarasota, Florida in 2006. Founded by second- and third-generation retailers, Bill and Parks Robinson, Fit2Run was created in order to provide exceptional service and assortment in the running industry niche. As a company, they are dedicated to supporting local communities with resources to promote a healthy lifestyle, with an emphasis on selection, events, and above all, service. The Market Shops store marks the 27th location for the Fit2Run brand, with other retail locations spread throughout the state of Florida as well as Puerto Rico.

“We wanted a space that would be easily accessible to runners and walkers alike,” said Fit2Run marketing director Alex Dougherty. “Being directly off Highway 98, and just outside of Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, we felt this spot was perfect for the area where there isn't any other running specialty retailer around.”

Located on the far west side of The Market Shops, the newest Fit2Run location occupies 4,795 square feet of retail space. Known as “The Runner’s Superstore”, Fit2Run offers men’s and women’s athletic apparel, footwear, and accessories from top brands including ASICS, Brooks, Free People Movement, HOKA, lululemon, On Cloud, and Vuori. Unlike other athletic stores, Fit2Run offers custom fit evaluations, which include a foot scan, measurement, and gait analysis on the store’s treadmill. Their specialized staff will record the customer’s running position, gait, and foot placement in order to gather more information and help find the perfect shoe tailored to their needs.

“This will be a new market for Fit2Run, and we are excited to see our store at The Market Shops thrive within the Miramar Beach and Destin communities,” Dougherty said.

The new location will bring 15-20 jobs to the community. Fit2Run is actively hiring associates and those interested can apply online at https://indeedhi.re/44cpj6y. Fit2Run at The Market Shops will be open Monday- Friday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Saturday- Sunday from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

The Market Shops Welcomes Mountain High Outfitters and Parlor Doughnuts to Tenant Mix

The Market Shops, located at the entrance to Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, welcomes two new merchants, Mountain High Outfitters and Parlor Doughnuts, to the shopping center.

Mountain High Outfitters is a premier outdoor retailer that features popular brands like Brumate, Chaco, Free Fly Apparel, Hoka, Teva, On Shoes, Patagonia, Vuori, and Yeti. In addition to apparel, footwear, and accessories for the entire family, Mountain High also offers gear for various outdoor activities including backpacking, bouldering, camping, caving, climbing, hiking, biking, yoga, skiing, trail running, slacklining, paddle boarding, and fly fishing.

Parlor Doughnuts is a locally owned and operated franchised bakery originally founded in 2018. Their newest location at The Market Shops will offer plenty of grab and go options including doughnuts, organic cookies, fresh brewed coffee, breakfast sandwiches and acai bowls for customers to enjoy on the run or outside within the shopping center courtyard.

“We are happy to welcome two new thriving businesses to the tenant mix here at The Market Shops,” said Rob Duncan, Vice President of CenterCore Properties. “We take pride in offering an eclectic mix of retail stores, dining options, entertainment, professional offices, and health facilities to our locals and visitors alike creating a well-balanced lifestyle center. Mountain High Outfitters and Parlor Doughnuts are the first of many new retailers and businesses coming to The Market Shops in 2021.”

The 4,800 square foot space will be the fifteenth location in the Southeast for Mountain High Outfitters and will create 15-20 new jobs in the local market. Other locations can be found in Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee. The company prides itself on having the knowledge to help their clientele in whatever activity they are shopping for, making it the ideal place to prepare for your first adventure, expedition or lifestyle experience. They also focus on community involvement surrounding each of their locations with the motto, “Get out, get active, be inspired and live your passion.”

“We are excited to be a part of the Destin community and hope a few of our current guests from our other locations in the Southeast will be familiar with our brand and visit us while enjoying this amazing part of Florida,” said Chistopher Groom, founder and CEO of Mountain High Outfitters. “After searching the area for a year and half, we chose The Market Shops because of its premier visibility, density of traffic, outstanding clientele, and sheer ability to have adequate parking and curb side pick-up opportunities.”

Parlor Doughnuts was originally founded in 2018 in Evansville, Ind. by Darrick Hayden. Hayden’s close friend, Ryan Ford, joined him in business after offering help during a busy morning rush at the Evansville location. The following year, Ford and his wife moved to Florida in the hopes of opening another location along the Emerald Coast. Unfortunately, COVID-19 halted their original timeline requiring them to make alternative plans for the new location. Ford opened the Fort Walton Beach, Fla. location in 2020 and knew he wanted to open another location soon after. He began looking throughout Destin and Miramar Beach for the perfect spot and chose The Market Shops for its convenience and accessibility to their customers.

Parlor Doughnuts sets themselves apart from other doughnut shops with their special dough. While traditional doughnuts are made with either yeast dough or cake, they offer their famous layered doughnuts, made with layers of dough and butter one on top of the other to make a crunchy and flaky exterior with layers of fluffy dough on the inside. They offer 22 flavors of doughnuts along with keto, vegan, and gluten free options as well as dog doughnuts, batch brew coffee, cold brew coffee, iced lattes and a variety of cold drinks.

“We are excited to be in the heart and center of Miramar Beach,” said Ryan Ford, general manager of Parlor Doughnuts. “The family friendly environment, along with the convenience to our customers helped us choose The Market Shops as our next storefront location along the Emerald Coast. We are all about community and the idea of being able to serve the people in our backyard was a major plus for us.”

The new Mountain High Outfitters will be located on the far west side of the shopping center and will host a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony with the Walton Area Chamber of Commerce on Friday, May 28 at 1 p.m. Meanwhile, Parlor Doughnuts is located in the center of the shopping plaza adjacent to Ben & Jerry's and Pizza by the Sea and is now open. The Market Shops Welcomes Hebert’s Specialty Meats to Tenant Mix

The Market Shops, located at the entrance to Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, welcomes Hebert’s Specialty Meats to the shopping center.

Owned and operated by true Cajun, Walter Hidalgo along with partners Sean and Kelli Louvierre, Hebert’s opened the first Emerald Coast location in June 2018. After knowing Sammy Hebert, the original founder of Hebert’s Specialty Meats, for 35 years, Hidalgo decided to bring his own part of the company to the Emerald Coast. After visiting the area since 1980, Hidalgo saw a need for true Cajun-style cuisine. His long-time experience as an entrepreneur and restaurant owner helped prepare him to bring Hebert’s to the Destin area and beyond.

“It’s always been in the game plan to expand the store while having one home base that creates it all,” Hidalgo said. “In the next couple of years, I see us expanding our reach from Orange Beach, Alabama all the way to Panama City.”

Hebert’s Specialty Meats originally opened in 1984 in Maurice, Louisiana. As the home of the original deboned stuffed poultry, Hebert’s offers all of the Cajun favorites including hot boudin, turduckens, boneless stuffed chicken, boneless stuffed turkey, shrimp or crawfish étouffée, shrimp and crab stuffing, andouille, crawfish pie, a variety of green onion sausages and much more all served daily.

As their second location along the Emerald Coast, The Market Shops store front will serve as the satellite location bringing in fresh products every day from their anchor store located in Destin.

“We are eager to welcome Hebert’s to the tenant mix here at The Market Shops,” said Rob Duncan, Vice President of CenterCore Properties. “Hebert’s signature, Cajun-style offerings have been well-received in the Destin market, and we are excited to bring them closer to residents and visitors in Miramar Beach and Sandestin.”

Herbert’s offers easy grab-and-go options for customers to pick up on their way home from work or for and easy, yet flavorful week-night dinner. The store will also carry pre-cooked options that customers can easily heat up at home.

“For the past year, we’ve been hearing from our 30A and Santa Rosa Beach customers that they have to fight constant traffic to get to us,” Hidalgo said. “The Market Shops is the perfect spot to end this problem. It is easily accessible to our customers and offers a valuable space for our product to be displayed.”

Hebert's Specialty Meats at The Market Shops

Hebert’s Specialty Meats will be open from 8 a.m.- 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. on Sunday. Hebert’s is located directly behind Jon Smith Subs adjacent to Sacred Heart Hospital. Sacred Heart Hospital Takes Surgery Beyond the Limits of the Human Hand

Sacred Heart Hospital Takes Surgery Beyond the Limits of the Human Hand

MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. – Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast has acquired the newest state-of-the-art da Vinci Xi® Surgical System, one of the most precise and least invasive surgical treatments available. Thanks to the newly advanced, robotic, computer and optical technologies, many patients at Sacred Heart will experience faster recovery with shorter hospital stay, smaller incisions with less discomfort and reduced need for pain medicine.

    FB-Post_daVinci Open House

“Our community deserves the most advanced medical care we able to give them. This robotic system allows our patients to recover from surgery as quickly as possible,” said Roger Hall, president of Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast. “We are committed to being a leader in providing patients with minimally invasive treatments.”

Gynecologic surgeon Dr. Glenn Bankert of Sacred Heart Medical Group is one of several highly skilled surgeons who will be using the new technology to perform minimally invasive surgery. Bankert has 3 ½ years of experience with robotic operations and has performed nearly 400 patient procedures using the da Vinci Surgical System at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola and other hospital locations. Dr. Bankert’s training was performed through the Intuitive Training Centers in Atlanta, GA. with additional specialized training at Intuitive Training Centers in Sonnyvale, CA.

“For our gynecologic surgery patients, this robotic technology means less pain, reduced blood loss, less scarring, shorter hospital stays and faster recovery times compared to more traditional surgical techniques,” said Dr. Bankert. “We expect to see decreased rates of infection, decreased length of stay in the hospital and faster return to baseline function so patients are better prepared if they need to undergo additional treatment beyond surgery.”

Robotic arms equipped with a camera are guided remotely by the surgeon’s precise movements into the patient’s abdomen or chest through small incisions, typically the size of a dime. Surgeons see high-resolution video and move up to four robotic arms remotely to perform procedures. The da Vinci Xi instruments have tiny mechanical wrists that bend and rotate to mimic the movements of the human wrist – allowing the surgeon to perform even the most complex and delicate procedures through very small incisions with great precision.

The da Vinci Xi System can be used across a wide spectrum of minimally invasive surgical procedures and has been optimized for procedures in which instruments must be able to reach up and down and across the abdomen or chest.

The new robot will be used at Sacred Heart in the following specialty areas:

    • General surgery
(such as gallbladder, hernia repair, gastroenterology, colon procedures)
    • Gynecologic surgery
    • Future Urologic surgery

“Robotic technology continues to advance and that allows our surgeons to perform more intricate and complex surgeries that are less invasive,” said Dr. Gary Pablo, Chief Medical Officer at Sacred Heart. “We are pleased to be able to serve our patients with the newest robotic technology available in our region.”

The community is invited to an open house and ribbon cutting event on Tuesday, March 13, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the hospital’s second-floor atrium area for a meet-n-greet with our surgical team and a “test drive” of the da Vinci Xi robot. Refreshments will be served.

The newly advanced da Vinci Xi® system will also be available at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola this June.

The Dressing Room Boutique to Host Drive for Children in Crisis

The Dressing Room Boutique recently announced that they will host a holiday drive benefiting Children in Crisis, Inc. (CIC) The upscale ladies boutique, located at The Market Shops at the entrance of Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, will collect much needed items for the non-profit organization from today through January 31, 2016.
Items needed include: child friendly DVDs, board games, hairbrushes, and gift cards to Starbucks, Burger King, McDonald’s and Books A Million. All of these items can be dropped off at the boutique, Monday through Saturday, between 10 am and 6 pm.

Children in Crisis, Inc. is a local 501(c)(3) non-profit organization of caring people, working together to provide homes and keep brothers and sisters together. The organization gives a home to the abused, neglected, and abandoned children of our community. Before Children in Crisis, there was no Emergency Shelter in Circuit One (which includes Okaloosa, Walton, Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties in Northwest Florida) for young children removed from an unsafe environment on short notice. Without CIC and the stability it brings, many foster children would be moved from home to home, some as many as ten times per year. The Children’s Neighborhood provides a home to an average of 100 children per year. Since opening their doors in 2008, CIC has been called “home” by nearly 700 children. Providing these children with over 70,000 days and nights of a safe, loving environment to grow and thrive. At The Children’s Neighborhood, sibling separation is minimized and it is their priority to keep brothers and sisters together.
“I can't thank Abbie and The Dressing Room Boutique enough for the wonderful support to Children in Crisis,” says Ken Hair, President & CEO, Children in Crisis, Inc. “Our most critical need is to help feed, clothe and care for our at-risk foster children living at the CIC Neighborhood.  Abbie has made a difference in the lives of our children today and far into the future.  Thank you and to all those that helped!”
“We are so happy to be able to host this drive for a wonderful organization, such as Children in Crisis,” says Abbie Reeves, Owner, The Dressing Room Boutique. “This is a great way for us to give back to the community and help those children served by this organization. We hope to continue to do many drives in support of this organization, as well as others, in the future.”

The Market Shops unveils multi-million dollar renovation, and announces new merchants and first community event

Miramar Beach, Fla(April 23, 2014)The Market Shops located at the entrance to Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort has unveiled specific details and a timeline for the extensive renovation that is currently taking place on the property.

Construction on the property began on March 17, 2014 and includes major exterior repairs including: doors and windows being installed to all storefronts facing Emerald Coast Parkway, which will provide easy access from the parking lot and visibility to traffic passing by, as well as redesigned courtyards and walkways. Brick pavers are being laid in the interior common area of the center to create a courtyard that will be the epicenter for events, nightlife, live music and more. The center will also receive cosmetic enhancements including a new façade, stone columns, a new paint color scheme and a complete redesign of landscaping. The lawn on the east side of the property has been expanded and refreshed to host festivals, concerts and other special events in the future. The renovation is scheduled for completion by Summer 2014. In the interim, the local community is invited to the center every Sunday for the Seaside Farmer’s Market at The Market Shops beginning Sunday, April 27, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The Market Shops confirms the addition of several new merchants that will be joining Sunset Shoes, Sandestin Real Estate and Tandestin including a new fine dining concept by the managementof Bistro Bijoux, Sirens at the Beach, a locally owned lingerie, lounge, swim and sleepwear boutique, Favori Gift Boutique, a mini sweet shop, apparel, jewelry and art boutique as well as Market Shops Nails & Spa. Several additional new merchants will be announced in the coming weeks, and many of The Market Shops merchants will be open for business during the renovation of the center.

Built in 1985, this is the first renovation that the 52,000 square foot center has undergone. Owners of the center, OBP Partners of Miami, Fla., acquired the property in 2002, and in 2013 took over the asset’s management duties from the prior operator.

“With OBP Partners’ experienced team now managing and operating The Market Shops, and with the real estate market making a strong comeback, we think this is the right time to revive The Market Shops,” said Ian Schenkman, Vice President of OBP Partners. “We are excited to reestablish the center as a location for the local community to enjoy.”

JPB Commercial Real Estate Advisors is handling all leasing for The Market Shops and has seen very strong interest from local and regional retailers and restaurateurs.  Currently in the pre-leasing stage, the center has reached more than 50% occupancy. Those wishing to inquire about leasing space at The Market Shops should contact JPB agents Tom Watson at 850-527-3524 or Doreen Baca at 850-460-5050.
